June 2021–May 2025

I mapped and analyzed impact craters around the Hebrus Valles and Hephaestus Fossae outflow flood channels on Mars to figure out when these channels had water flowing through them. The more craters, the older the surface, generally. Our best estimate so far is about 2 billion years ago.

I am also mapping and analyzing craters around Osuga Valles, Mars, to similarly estimate when the floods that carved this channel happened. Our best estimate so far is <1.5 billion years ago.
